Sustainable Technologies for Advanced, Resilient, and Energy-Efficient Networks
SUSTAINET is an international research project as part of the CELTIC NEXT initiative. The aim of the project is to develop innovative technologies and solutions that increase the resilience, energy efficiency and sustainability of networks. It thus makes a significant contribution to Europe's digital transformation and technological sovereignty.
Funded by National and European research programs under the CELTIC-NEXT initiative
Duration: January 2025 - December 2027
In the SUSTAINET project, Fraunhofer HHI is working on developing future-proof networks that seamlessly integrate fiber optics, wireless networks and modern mobile communications generations, thus significantly improving the availability, resilience, resilience and sustainability of networks.
SUSTAINET Advance:
Advanced technologies for sustainable networks
In the SUSTAINET-Advance sub-project, Fraunhofer HHI is concentrating on optimizing optical transmission technologies. These should not only offer greater energy efficiency, but also significantly increase transmission capacities. A particular focus is on the development of innovative algorithms and network architectures that enable flexible and resource-saving data transmission.
SUSTAINET-inNOvAte:
Intelligent solutions for resilient networks
In the SUSTAINET-inNOvAte sub-project, Fraunhofer HHI is developing network technologies that work with artificial intelligence and modern signal processing technologies. These technologies are intended to make networks not only more efficient, but also more resistant to interference. To this end, the institute is working on methods for the seamless integration of different network segments and on innovative concepts for digital signal processing.
The SUSTAINET project is a cooperation of more than 80 European research institutions, universities and companies and is organized in 3 sub-projects: SUSTAINET-Advance, SUSTAINET-inNOvAte and SUSTAINET-guarDian. The total volume of the project amounts to € 67.5 million.
As a CELTIC-NEXT flagship project, SUSTAINET relies on the close cooperation of leading research institutions and industrial partners from Europe to jointly tackle the challenges of a sustainable digital transformation and strengthen Europe's technological sovereignty.
