Submarine and Core Systems

The group "Submarine and Core Systems" (SCS) conducts research and development in the field of optical communications systems for medium to long distances (40 to 10,000 km). This includes the terrestrial core networks and underwater fiber optic connections. It addresses the investigation and development of next generation, secure optical transmission systems from the system concept to the numerical simulation of the transmission, test and validation of system components up to the realization of laboratory prototypes and the evaluation in complete transmission experiments over field installed fiber networks. It cooperates closely with the other groups in the Department of Photonic Networks and Systems in these fields.
