Transceiver technologies and system architectures for passive optical access networks
The "PONTROSA" project is developing novel electronic and optical subsystems to significantly increase the transmission capacity of future PONs. Optimized integrated electronic and photonic circuits are designed and manufactured and integrated into an overall system using cost-efficient and scalable manufacturing technology. Furthermore, the requirements for digital signal processing are examined and specially tailored methods are developed. The developed PON system is then demonstrated. In addition, a techno-economic model is to be created to provide information about the market potential of the developed subsystems.
