Coded Modulation, Optimized Decoding and Equalization for Fiber-Optic Channels
Co-funded by German Research Foundation (DFG)
Duration: July 2016 – June 2019
The project investigates advanced coded modulation schemes for the nonlinear optical fiber channel. The project develops suitable decoding metrics, which are simple to compute and can be implemented in real-time with affordable complexity but at the same time are adapted optimally to the nonlinear behavior of the optical fiber. Furthermore, the interaction between equalization strategy and channel coding will be analyzed in order to optimize the functional split between equalizer and decoder.
