Fraunhofer Society recognized Fraunhofer HHI’s Charlyn Domke as one of the best apprentices of the year 2020. The young employee finished her 2,5 year commercial apprenticeship with the highest marks. The official award ceremony was held as a virtual event on November 17, 2020. Prof. Alexander Kurz, Director of Human Resources, Legal Affairs and Utilization at Fraunhofer Society, presented the awards. At the same time, the responsible training instructor Martina Keil was recognized for her good supervision. The award was handed over to the apprentice in person on November 9, 2020 by Prof. Martin Schell, Fraunhofer HHI Executive Director.
Charlyn Domke, a Berlin native, started her commercial apprenticeship in September 2017 right after graduating from secondary school. Due to her strong performance, she received the opportunity to shorten her training period to 2,5 years. She finished with excellent grades in January 2020. Since January 17, 2020, she has been employed at the institute’s procurement department as a permanent staff member.
“Honoring of the Best” is a Fraunhofer Society initiative recognizing trainees and dual students. It takes place annually to honor trainees and dual students in their initial training who have passed their final exams with highest marks or are at the top of their class or state. Their instructors or supervisors are honored alongside of them.
Under normal circumstances, all participants are invited to attend a festive award ceremony at Fraunhofer Society headquarters in Munich. Usually two days of social activities, a cultural program, a dinner and the award ceremony take place. Due to the current Sars-CoV2 pandemic, this year’s the program was conducted as a virtual event on November 16 and 17, 2020. The awards were handed over by Prof. Alexander Kurz on November 17, 2020 at 10:30 a.m.
