This year, the Wideband Optical Networks (WON) project is joining the celebration of IEEE Day 2021 by organizing a virtual event that will be held on 8 October 2021. During the event, some WON early-stage researchers (ESRs) will provide invited talks to discuss how the development of optical communication technologies can enable the full exploitation of the total capacity of optical fibres to efficiently sustain Internet traffic growth.
The global Internet traffic increases exponentially. In the context of such extraordinary traffic growth, 14 academic and industrial highly qualified institutions created the Wideband Optical Networks (WON) European Training Network (ETN) to promote international, inter-sectorial and multi/inter-disciplinary research activities. During IEEE Day 2021, WON early-stage researchers (ESRs) will present their current research on the WON project and discuss the developments of optical communication technologies and the efficient use of fiber optic networks in a way that is easily accessible to everyone.
The ESRs will present their topics in an easy-to-catch way, so participants don’t need to have any prior knowledge of fiber optic technologies and can learn exciting new content.
Experts in the field of optical communication are welcome to share their knowledge in inspiring discussions.
