Photonics Days Berlin Brandenburg 2024
OCT 2024
9 - 10
Berlin, Germany
The Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institut (HHI) is a world leader in the development for mobile and optical communication networks and systems as well as processing and coding of video signals. Together with international partners from research and industry, Fraunhofer HHI works in the whole spectrum of digital infrastructure – from fundamental research to the development of prototypes and solutions.
At the Photonics Days Berlin Brandenburg 2024, Fraunhofer HHI, together with project partners and PolyPhotonics Berlin e.V., will present current advancements from the BMBF-funded PolyChrome Berlin project. Innovations of the hybrid integration platforms - PolyBoard and silicon nitride will be highlighted at the workshop on October 9, 2024. Various demonstrators will be showcased at the exhibition on October 09/10.
SiN Sensors – Mikroring sensors
Latest developments of disposables for Pointof-Care testing based on photonic silicon nitride microring resonators will be presented. The compact optical multisensors are designed for fast, cost-effective and specific measurements of chemical and biological substances.
Functionalization of the sensors using nucleic acid-based capture molecules (aptamers) enables specific analysis in the fields of diagnostics, life sciences, environmental and food analysis.
Multi-Lambda Laser Sources
Multi-lambda laser sources based on the hybrid photonic integration platform are presented. Type A as NIR source (805/960/995/1586nm), type B as RGB source (450/530/650nm)
Exemplary applications are in blood analysis and infrared spectroscopy (NIR) as well as in imaging methods (RGB).
Glass fiber as a sensor
The PolyChrome team demonstrates various fiber optic-based sensing methods.
Type A: Correlation RPS (Rapid Precision Sensing): With the help of the RPS method, it is possible to measure the exact transit time of light in the glass fiber and thus determine lengths with millimeter precision.
Type B: Coherent RPS: In addition to time domain measurement, the coherent RPS method also enables phase analysis of backscattered signals. This allows temperature changes, mechanical stress, vibrations etc. to be detected with local assignment.
