Tomás Malheiros Borges

Biography

Tomás Borges received his B. Sc. in Electrical Engineering in 2014 and his M Sc. in Electrical Engineering in 2019, both from Universidade de Brasília (UnB), Brasilia, Brazil. He is currently a PhD candidate also from UnB focused on point cloud and mesh compression, and quality evaluation for augmented reality systems. Since 2021, he has been involved in the MPEG’s 3DG discussions for point cloud and mesh compression.

In 2023, he joined the Multimedia Communications Group at Fraunhofer Heirich Hertz Institute (HHI) as a Research Associate, where his main activities are research on compression formats for immersive media and contributions to standardization in MPEG.
