Fraunhofer HHI appears twice in the UNIQORN advent calendar

December 13, 2019

The Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute HHI is a participant in the online advent calendar  of the EU quantum flagship project UNIQORN. 24 creative texts, Christmas stories and festive recipes can be explored in the advent calendar under the motto "Christmas and quantum communication".

The "Quantum Christmas calendar" has now made it onto the front page of the EU Commission's Quantum Flagship website . As common for conventional advent calendars, the UNIQORN advent calendar opens or rather activates another door every day. Fraunhofer HHI already submitted its "secret recipe" for photonic chips as Christmas tree decorations on December 7. You can also look forward to another contribution from Fraunhofer HHI – so keep up to date with the calendar so you do not miss the second Fraunhofer HHI door!

About UNIQORN

The project "UNIQORN - Affordable Quantum Communication for Everyone: Revolutionizing the Quantum Ecosystem from Fabrication to Application" has set itself the goal of miniaturizing quantum technologies using photonic integration and making them available to users as system-on-chip solutions. Project Partners, including the Fraunhofer HHI, will develop the key components for the quantum communications systems of the future, which are used, among other things, to generate true random numbers and secure key distribution. These include specialized quantum optical sources and detector technologies, which are implemented on established technology platforms, similar to mass production in microelectronics. They are the basis for highly miniaturized optical systems that can fully exploit quantum mechanical properties such as entanglement and squeezed light.
