Terahertz (THz) transmission is a complementary wireless technology for communication networks, which allow high-speed wireless extension of the optical fibers for Beyond 5G.
Facts
THz communication means wireless data transmission at carrier frequencies in the 0.1 – 1 THz range. The main reason for using these high carrier frequencies is the large contiguous bandwidth compared to previous wireless technologies, even capable of fitting state-of-the-art optical channels. Therefore, flexible high-speed wireless systems can be designed that could be directly integrated into fiber-based network architectures (virtual fiber concept).
